what is cosmetic breast surgery?

Cosmetic breast surgery refers to various procedures that help women achieve their ideal breasts. Many procedures fall under this umbrella term, including breast augmentation, breast revision surgery, breast reduction and mastopexy, also known as a breast lift

We perform extensive pre-surgical consultations to confirm your eligibility and learn more about your goals, preferences and concerns so we can tailor your treatment plan accordingly.

Cosmetic Breast Surgery You Can Trust

Dr. Samuels trained at the University of Texas Southwestern, the number-one plastic surgery residency training program for the past 20 years. Dr. Samuels trained with the surgeons who developed the new silicone breast re-approved by the FDA in 2006.

Dr. Samuels has been specially selected among a handful of providers to conduct clinical research on implants used in today’s breast augmentation procedures. Dr. Samuels always takes a variety of approaches to matching implants to the patient. She helps patients choose implants before the procedure based on each patient’s needs, body shape, preferences and goals.

Customizing Your Breast Augmentation

Dr. Samuels uses the bio-dimensional approach of matching the right implant to the patient for the most proportionally enhanced result. This requires careful measurement, matching and sizing. This advanced approach drastically reduces revision rates for breast augmentation and ensures patient satisfaction.

A Procedure Focused on Quick Recovery

We use the quick recovery technique for breast augmentations, which originated in Dallas, where Dr. Samuels trained. Not all surgeons have the experience or skill to utilize the quick recovery technique. However, when you undergo breast augmentation at our office, you’ll benefit from Dr. Samuel’s knowledge in this area.

Who It’s Right For

Breast augmentation is a good option for women with naturally undersized breasts that are disproportionate to the rest of their bodies. Additionally, it’s a good option for women who have lost breast volume due to pregnancy, significant weight loss or natural aging. We can perform this procedure alongside a breast lift to achieve optimal results for women with congenital deformities or breast asymmetry.

BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breast augmentation is the most popular and most-requested cosmetic procedure. We offer several different types of implants to meet your needs, including saline, silicone gel and cohesive implants. We provide different levels of cohesivity that affect the firmness and softness of implants, all approved for use since 2006.

(Mastopexy)

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Mastopexy is often referred to as a breast lift. This procedure corrects sagging breasts from pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging or weight loss. A breast lift lifts the breasts higher on the chest wall to improve proportion and overall aesthetics and may also incorporate areola reduction.

Women who don’t have enough breast tissue may combine a breast lift with augmentation for optimal results. There are three different types of mastopexy: the donut or nipple lift; the lollipop, which removes excess skin while lifting the areola; and the anchor.

Who It’s Right For

A breast lift is a good option for women with small or sagging breasts, as well as those who are happy with the size of their breasts but want to increase volume while lifting the breasts higher on the chest.

We recommend that women planning on having more children should wait to schedule their procedure; or move forward with the understanding that additional pregnancies after a breast lift can require an additional procedure later on. Weight loss after the procedure can decrease skin elasticity, so for the best results, patients must achieve their goal weight before scheduling surgery.

What To Expect From the Procedure

This procedure takes place in our office and is customized for each patient. During your consultation, you can view pictures of past patients to see their outcomes and determine your ideal results. We may use liposuction on younger patients who do not require excess skin removal and need fewer incisions.

Older patients with excess loose skin will require more incisions, which are concealed at the areolar border in the lower pole of the breasts. Post-procedure, you’re provided with a customized bra. Any drains placed in the incisions will be removed the day after your procedure. You will need to do light wound care for 10 to 14 days.

Who Is It Right For?

Women who are unhappy with breasts disproportionate to their body frame or those who experience the physical symptoms of living with heavy breasts make good candidates for breast reduction. We recommend that patients achieve their goal weight before scheduling this procedure. Losing over 15 pounds after the procedure can cause sagging skin or dissatisfaction with how breasts appear.

BREAST Reduction

Breast reduction is another type of cosmetic breast surgery designed to improve the appearance of the breasts by removing excess tissue and skin to decrease overall size. Weight gain, genetics, pregnancy, and nursing can contribute to oversized breasts disproportional to one's body frame. This procedure is both cosmetic and functional and aims to create aesthetically pleasing, proportional breasts that make women feel more confident in clothing and resolve any discomfort associated with heavy, oversized breasts.

Breast Revision

Breast Revision

Many patients choose our office for breast revision surgeries to correct unsatisfactory work performed by another provider. If you have achieved less-than-ideal results from previous breast surgery, Dr. Samuels can perform a revision procedure to perfect your breasts. This gives you a fresh start in attaining the results you hoped for but did not achieve in a prior procedure.

Patients who undergo breast revision surgery are always amazed at our team’s heightened understanding of your needs compared to previous surgeons. Many patients note that their overall experience at our office was far better than their other experiences. Our breast revision protocols help patients experience faster and more successful healing, improved scar care and extensive follow-up appointments.

The Quick Recovery Technique

Dr. Samuels uses a quick recovery technique to accelerate patient recovery with less discomfort, swelling and soreness, so you can resume normal daily activities in one to three days. Her technique includes meticulous pocket dissection, attention to hemostasis and intra-op sizing. This can drastically reduce the chance of revision for asymmetry or other negative effects.
